SCiO Meeting April 11 - No Intelligence Without Feedback

There is a SCIO Open Meeting on Monday 11th April 2011 in The Manchester Business School, Harold Hawkins Building - Room 10.02, 10am-4:30pm. Attendance fee is £10 for members and non-members. http://www.scio.org.uk/events

Richard Veryard will be talking on the subject "No Intelligence without Feedback"

One perspective on ‘Organisational Intelligence’ is that it measures the ability of the organisation to manage complexity and be self-aware. Present-day notions of ‘organisational intelligence’ bring together ideas from knowledge management, decision sciences, Operational Research and Cybernetics, including the Viable System Model. One of the key design requirements is to build in a set of feedback loops at different tempi (time based and at different organisational levels) to support goal-directed behaviour and rich organisational learning. In this session, Richard will explore the socio-technical enablers for effective feedback, collaboration and intelligence, with practical examples from large organisations.

The SCiO meeting will also include sessions led by David Train (The nature of Sustainability) and  Ian Kendrick (Shaping ‘Storytelling’ as a system craft).
